I had never heard of a wiki before this class, and for a few tries, it was a bit confusing to me as to how it worked. But after working with the class wiki for awhile, I not only understood how it functioned, but it's purpose as a great Web 2.0 tool. It connects a specific group of people to share work, discussions, ideas, etc. For this class in Assessment in E-Learning, we used a class wiki for an introduction activity as well as to write a Netiquette guideline list for the course. Making this guideline was an interesting conversation for us as a class as we began to discover what each thought was behavior acceptable in an online learning environment. Our class wiki can be found here .
PARTNER INTERVIEW OF ME: THE PURPOSE OF THIS ACTIVITY WAS TO PRACTICE ONLINE INTERVIEW AS AN ASSESSMENT TECHNIQUE AS WELL AS TO BUILD AN ONLINE COMMUNITY OF LEARNERS
I would like to introduce Patti Morlock from Reynoldsburg, OH! What an interesting person!
The most interesting thing that she shared is that she was a nun for 13 years! WOW! During this time she taught high school English and Theology. When she left the convent, she went to seminary and became an ordained Lutheran pastor. She has been a pastor half time and worked as an intervention specialist at a local high school working with at risk high school students in danger of not graduating. This position ended in 2012. She has had some online experience through her work with an online credit recovery program.
She has been married for 21 years and has two daughters, 19 and 12. Patti says they are as different as day and night. One is girly and the other a sports fiend, who likes track and softball. In fact, one took a baseball to the face, broke her nose and was quite proud of it. My kind of girl! When not looking after broken noses, she likes to quilt for relaxation. She likes the challenge of cutting fabric into pieces, then putting those pieces back together to create a beautiful design. I applaud her for having the patience to do this kind of work. We do have a few things in common, we both like to read and go to the beach! We also like the same kind of reading material, thrillers and how things work and the all-important beach reading material! Light and fluffy stuff!
Patti is taking this class as part of the Elearning and Online Teaching Certificate. Put your hands together and give her a warm welcome! Clap! Clap!
